About Michael
I read, and I write. Writing pays a little (but only a little) better, so I try to do more of that.
I hold an M.S. in international political economy from The University of Texas at Dallas where I studied conflict and development. I also have a B.A. in history from Texas A&M University.
What do I write about?
It’s hard to say. I’ve written about things like Ukrainian presidential elections, cheese, and backcountry hiking in Guatemala. If I have a soft spot for something, though, it’s probably Latin America. Sometimes my work is serious; sometimes it’s not.
Where can you see my work?
My most recent article came out in mental_floss magazine. I’ve also been published in/on The Bryan-College Station Eagle, matador.org, the magazines re:d, Where, and THE, Taylor’s World of Politics and Clements’ International Report.
In addtion to English, my Spanish is decent.
